Alton W Miller's Obituary
Alton Miller passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023, at the age of 56. Alton was born in Starkville, Mississippi, on March 7, 1967 to Thomas and Ann Miller. Alton is survived by his mother, Ann Miller; his siblings, Thomas Miller Jr. (Stefanie), Laurie McCants (Wayne) and Lynn Miller; nephews Jon Harrington (Shelby), Thomas Miller III (Sarah), and Kyle Harrington (Daley); and great-nephews and great nieces Parker Miller, Drake Miller, Aubree Miller, Leighton Harrington, and Langston Denny. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Miller Sr.
A native of Hattiesburg, MS, and proud resident of Louisiana for over 11 years, Alton graduated from Oak Grove High School, in Hattiesburg, MS. After high school he attended Phoenix University and earned his associate degree. Alton had a professional career as a surveyor/inspector with the American Bureau of Shipping. Alton was successful and well respected as a friend, mentor, generous contributor to many small churches, near and far.
Alton was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid and dedicated fisherman and hunter, and loved his 3 golden retrievers more than most could love a pet. He was loved by more friends and family, as we watched hundreds of visitors drive to see him both in Covington and at M.D. Anderson. He was well respected in his profession and served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. He was a man of faith and loved by many. Alton was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on July 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will be privately held in Betheden Cemetery in Louisville, MS.
