Allison Moore Romero's Obituary
Allison Moore Romero, age 69, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on October 3, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Alfonso Romero; her daughter, Kaitlyn Harlan Rios; and her grandchildren, Talon and Victoria. She is also survived by her sister, Elene Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Willard Moore and Nell Adaline Maxwell; and daughter, Marisa Elene Romero.
Allison received her BA in Psychology in 1983 from Louisiana Tech University. She started her career as a Case Manager at Evergreen House, an ICF-MR facility run by Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries from 1984 to 1986. She went on to work as a Case Manager for Volunteers of America from 1986 to 1987.
Allison and her family moved to Virginia, where she continued as a Mental Health Counselor for the Culpeper County Human Services for the remainder of 1987. She continued to work as a Mental Health Counselor for Leroy Place Group Home, run by Pathway Homes, Inc. Leroy Place was a 24-hour supervised CMI 8-bed group home where Allison assisted in treatment plans and training in independent living skills. Allison stayed there from 1988 to 1990, providing crisis intervention, counseling, and client advocacy for all the clients.
The family moved again, and Allison found herself in Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked for Whitehaven Southwest Mental Health Center. She was a Counselor at New Hope Center, in an Adult Day Treatment Program for chronically mentally ill adults.
The final family journey ended in Louisiana, and Allison was working again for the Volunteers of America. She was a Case Manager for the Adult Diversionary Respite/Louisiana Avenue Home from 1990 to 1993.
From there, Allison enjoyed being a travelling Case Manager for the NO/AIDS Task Force in the Florida Parishes. She worked as a deputy for the Elderly Protective Services, patrolling the same area. Afterwards, Allison left the social services field to learn and work as an Ultrasound Technician for Doctors’ Hospital and then at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
Allison’s resume does not start to describe her heart and soul. Her professionalism was an extension of her personality. She was an empath; she could listen, understand, and feel the emotions of others. She was the mom to her daughters’ friends who could not communicate with their own parents. She advocated for everyone who needed help up until her final days. She was a devoted animal rescuer to a fault; she even found homes for possums and alligators. She loved flowers and had a child-like fascination for collecting interesting rocks.
Instead of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Romero may be made to your local children's charities or animal shelter.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
E. J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, Louisiana, is honored to be entrusted with Mrs. Romero’s funeral arrangements. Her family invites you to sign an online guestbook at https://www.ejfieldingfh.com.
