Raymond J. Garrity
I first met Alice when I joined the faculty of Delgado in 1975. She welcomed me warmly, and soon became one of my dearest friends. She was a consummate professional who remained a beacon of integrity and professionalism during some very dark times for the college. I worked closely with her as a member of the Steering Committee for the Southern Association re-accreditation process, and feel that without her leadership we would not have maintained our accreditation. Upon her retirement my wife and I hosted a small dinner gathering for her at our home. During this gathering she promised that although she was retiring, we would maintain our friendship. While we were no longer in regular contact, she fulfilled this promise through visits to campus, telephone contacts, and--of course--Christmas cards each year.
I deeply regret that, due to an ankle injury I am at present unable to drive and thus will not be able to participate in person in the Mass of Christian Burial being offered for her. My wife Madelyn and I will, however, offer our Sunday Mass and daily Rosary for her. May she rest in peace with our Lord.
