Albert Jules Frey, Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Claire Osborne Frey; loving father of Albert “Jay” Frey, Jr. and his wife Gretchen, Joanne Claire Frey, Ruth Frey Bertucci and her husband Dr. Bryan, Mary Anne Frey Schindler and her husband Ronnie, Claire Frey Musgrove, and Amy Lynn Frey Poole; father-in-law to Ed Burke; and brother of Beverly Frey Reuther, Dolores Frey Meyer, David Frey, Florence Frey Theriot, Barbara Frey Mann and Kathleen Frey Lafontaine. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alvina Mumme Frey; his father, Albert A. Frey; a daughter, Monica Jane Frey Burke; a son, John Edward Frey; a son-in-law, Scott Musgrove; and a sister, Elaine Frey Davis. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Age 85 years, he was a native of New Orleans, La and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 12 years. He served on the Executive Board of L.A. Frey & Sons and was the Director of Marketing for the company. A United States Navy Veteran, CPO Frey served during World War II and was aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-5) when it sank. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, was a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre and was the founder and first president of the Holy Name Society at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448.
A wake on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with a rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00 PM, at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation AT THE CHURCH will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
