Aaron Jude Davis' Obituary
Aaron Jude Davis, age 55, of Abita Springs, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. He was born on May 24, 1970, in Hammond, Louisiana.
Aaron is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Hernilda “Nelie” Belandres Davis; children, Joshua Davis (Madison) and Jakob Davis; grandchild, Anastasia Davis; father, David M. Davis; mother, Mary A. Davis; siblings, Brandon Davis and Kingsley Reister (Adrian); nieces and nephews, Timmy Wicks (Kelsey), Jimmy Wicks, and Johnny Wicks; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Christine Haney Davis, and his father-in-law, Margarito O. Belandres Sr.
Aaron Davis graduated from Covington High School in 1989 and soon after joined the U.S. Army, serving as a Motor Transport Operator until 1995 and leaving with the rank of E-4. His service took him across the world, including four years in Heidelberg, Germany, two years at Fort Eustis, Virginia, and another year in Kitzingen, Germany. After his military career, Aaron moved to Washington State, where he earned his Microsoft Certifications from Clover Park Technical College in 1998 and two degrees from St. Leo University, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts (1997) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (2007). In 2000, he returned to Louisiana, joining the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans as part of the IT department, where his dedication and leadership eventually led him to become IT Director. He retired after 25 years of service in August 2025.
One of Aaron’s greatest accomplishments as IT Director was his pivotal role in preserving the operations of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 . Demonstrating remarkable foresight, he performed full system backups just days before the storm made landfall, a decision that proved critical when New Orleans flooded and all communications failed.
With calm determination, Aaron led his team in relocating to Hammond, Louisiana, where he successfully restored essential systems, including payroll, human resources, and case record access, allowing the court to continue functioning amid widespread chaos. His leadership, technical expertise, and preparedness not only prevented the loss of vital data but also set a benchmark for disaster recovery and resilience in government IT.
Beyond his career, Aaron had a lifelong love of travel and adventure, exploring places such as Zion National Park, Israel, Italy, France, Greece, the Philippines, the Rocky Mountains, New York City, and Helen, Georgia. A licensed scuba diver in his younger years, he found joy both above and below the surface of the world he loved to see. His passions extended to music and film, he especially enjoyed Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, The Doors, and The Grateful Dead, and cherished the simple pleasure of watching movies at the big screen.
Aaron will be remembered for his dedication and love for his family, as well as his passion for exploration, technology, and the experiences that made life meaningful.
