Cindi Gibson
My sweet Jennifer Juniper has left us. I went in search of her tonight as she was on my mind. I expected to find her working on tax returns. Instead, I learned she left us in 2023. While I know none of us live forever, I somehow expected to always find her when I went looking. All things end, but her love and light never will. For the other 50 years I knew Donna Heier, she was known as "Jennifer" to me. I never once heard her called Donna, nor did I call her that myself. To those who knew her in New Orleans, she was always Jennifer or Mimosa. My trip through life together with Jennifer was storied at times, loves lost, battles enjoined, love won. What I remember most about her was her laugh and smile and the way she always greeted me as though I was a long-lost friend which I suppose I was, in a way. Her children, David (Ajax), Daryl, and Barry were all very dear to me and I think of them often. I find it hard to believe they're all grown up with children of their own. Then again, it's hard to believe my own children are now in their 50s. I will miss you, sweet Jennifer, but I can see you clearly, dancing across the universe with your tambourine in the air, your red hair flying behind you, with swirls of beautiful silk blowing in the breeze. I love you, sweet friend.
