Ruth and I were reminiscing this morning about all the wonderful times we had with Carol. She was, without a doubt, one of the most warm, accepting, genuine, giving people we had the privilege of knowing. We also admired her spunk, the way she said exactly what she meant. What a happy coincidence that she and LJ came to Woodland Park, Colorado, that she broke an ankle, that Dr. Nitka was on call, and that she invited us all over for BBQ. She called us Colorada family. We visited her in NOLA and Mandeville when she quit coming here; she was always welcoming. We'll miss her, as will all her family and friends. But we, like others of you, like the thought that she and LJ are now stirring things up in a new place.
We are neighbors of Mrs. Rittiner's in Mandeville, and want to extend to Mrs. Rittiner's family our prayers and condolences. God bless.
I will forever cherish my wonderful memories of Carol. She was my New Orleans Mother, my mentor, and my close friend. I will always remember our daily Tern Street talks, helping each other with parties (she mostly helped me), spending time at Carol and L.J.'s ranch in Colorado, our trip to Portugal, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day at their house or ours. I am saddened to say goodbye to Carol. My condolences to her loving family, Shelly, Glenn, Chris, John, all the grandchildren and great-grand children. Carol will forever be loved and remembered by the Stevenson Family.
I too loved Carol. She was a wonderful neighbor, always full of spunk and vigor. I love how she kept her garden so beautifully and was generous with her time and ice cream. She was a pleasure to spend time with, and I will miss her dearly. Thinking of Carol's family - I know you will miss her all the more.
Granny was such a significant part of my childhood. I fondly remember spending many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with Granny and how every Christmas Eve they threw the BEST party with Santa (or LJ) and everything! I also loved visiting Granny and LJ at their ranch in Colorado and remember missing them so much each summer, anxiously waiting for the fall to return so they would too. I love the way Granny used a typewriter in every letter I ever received from her and how each time she wrote or spoke to me she referred to me as her “little pain in the butt!” Granny will be deeply missed. To Granny’s family: I am so sorry for your loss. She was truly a remarkable woman.

We lived next door to Carol for some ten years and it was great to have her as a neighbor. She had always time for a cup of coffee, or a chat about the news or the yard. Carol had some strong opinions and she didn't mind sharing them. When the discussion tapered off, I said teasingly: Well Carol, I am going to Walmart, do you need anything? She usually answered: You shop at Walmart? Well, you better leave my house then. (At that time she was not a fan of Walmart). Such sweet memories.
She was a very special person and has enriched our lives. We will never forget her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Carol was gracious, funny and beautiful inside and out. We feel very lucky to have known her and know that there will never be another quite like her. What a great lady!! We send our love to Chris, John and the kids. You are all in our prayers.
Ms. Carol, even though you were about to celebrate your 91st birthday, I was shocked to learn of your passing. You were a dear sweet friend and my adopted "Louisiana Grandma". I enjoyed working in the garden with you, hearing stories about Europe, New Orleans, Mardi Gras, and Colorado. I enjoyed going for walk and rolls with you and Zeke, having dinner, and just talking with you. I also enjoyed being your therapist. Chris, our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We enjoyed meeting so many of her beloved family while we were there.
We loved Carol from the minute we met her. When we moved in next door to her and LJ, they became instant family. We followed Carol across the lake for her fabulous pancakes and lively conversation. She was like a favorite aunt and best friend. We will miss her dearly but know she's stirring it up upstairs.
