Wojciech Sebastian Sobolewski passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the age of 39. He was the beloved husband of Caroline Winter Sobolewski for 17 years, beloved father of Sebastian Bernard Sobolewski, age 16, John William Sobolewski, age 11, and Leonardo Winter Sobolewski, age 2. He is survived by his parents, Janusz Waldemar Sobolewski and Grażyna Kłosińska Sobolewska and his brother, Maciej Juliusz Sobolewski, and many aunts and uncles and cousins in Poland. He is also survived by his brothers in law, William A. Dazet, Jr., Thomas E. Dazet (Dawn), Christopher E. Dazet, and his sister in law Melissa Dazet Treuting (Kurt), as well as many members of his wife’s family. Wojciech was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stefan Sobolewski and Gizella Sobolewska, Czesław Kłosiński and Halina Kłosińska, and his wife’s parents, Carey Winter Dazet and William Anthony Dazet, Sr. Wojciech “Wojtek” was born on March 12, 1982, and grew up in Modlin Stary, Poland, not far from Warsaw, a tight-knit community where his family still has close friends. He attended boarding school at XXXIX Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Lotnictwa Polskiego where he found deep friendships, and college at Wyższa Szkoła Hotelarstwa i Turystyki, where he studied the hospitality industry. Wojtek and Caroline met in 2003 at an English language summer camp for Polish students, in the Tatra mountains, where she taught English and he was a camp counselor. After moving to the United States and getting married, Wojtek decided he wanted to go into the healthcare field and completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at The University of New Orleans. He spent 6 years working at Crescent City Surgical Center in Metairie, as an Operating Room Assistant. He then worked as a Nursing Assistant at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, where he also took part in the Healing Arts exhibition, sharing his artwork on display in the hospital. He completed his nursing degree at the Charity School of Nursing at Delgado and then worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Most recently, he took a job at Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville. In 2017, he ran the New Orleans Marathon. He became an American Citizen in January of 2019. Wojtek was a charmer and a jokester and many adored that about him, but also felt a deep friendship and connection with him. He attracted people with his wit and approachability. He loved music, he loved to admire and create art, he loved to dance. He loved the outdoors, most of all his beloved mountains in Poland, especially the Bieszczady. Nothing gave him more peace. He loved his three boys fiercely and was the most devoted father, taking part in Cub Scout and athletics with both his older sons. He was the First Mate of the Maritime Exploring Club 317 in Mandeville, taking part often in sailing excursions with his son John. He loved taking his boys to Poland and showing them where he grew up. He loved teaching them history. He loved watching them grow. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West Causeway Approach Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12:30 PM with visiting hours beginning at 10:30 AM, and Eulogy to be given at 12:00 PM.
