Wanda Lee Menetre Watkins

Wanda Lee “Wandee” Menetre Watkins was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Godly woman. She was born on February 25, 1932 to Emile L. and Lela O. Menetre in Covington, Louisiana. Covington was always a special place which held fond memories of childhood and family. She and her husband, Doug, spent many weekends at the “Foothold” and BoJingle Christmas Tree Farm in Covington. Her Covington family, especially the Menetres and the McLachlans, were a source of great joy and meaningful relationships for her throughout her life. Wanda went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2020, a resident of Covington, Louisiana. She was a faithful wife to Doug, her husband of 58 years, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Watkins Senyard. She was preceded in death by her son, James Douglas “Bo” Watkins, Jr. Wanda was a loving grandmother and always proud of her three grandchildren, Emilee, Jack (Lindsey Tayler), and James “Pip” (Shelby Kay) Senyard. Wanda was the second of two children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Emile L. Menetre, Jr. She is also survived by four very special friends, Leigh Gilly, Martin Gilly, Andrew Gilly and Stuart Gilly and their families. A memorial service was held at Covington Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 1, 2021. The service was conducted by Rev. Jeff Sims. Wanda’s family expresses their deep gratitude to Monica Celestine and the staff of Christwood for the special care shown to Wanda and her family.
