Valerie J. Lynd

Valerie J. Lynd died on January 15, 2022, at the age of 85, after a well-lived life. Valerie was born in Yorkshire, England to the late Wing Commander John Yeadon and Violet Yeadon. Valerie pursued her love of history and the classics earning her M.A. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She was then employed as a post librarian at Menwith Hill Station, Harrogate, Yorkshire where she met her husband, LTC David W. Lynd. Together they traveled the world living in Pakistan, Iran and Germany and retired from the armed forces in New Orleans then Covington, LA. Valerie worked as a paralegal and was active in the Daughters of the British Empire and later her book group, Book Talk. She shared her love of travel, culture, cuisine and languages with her daughters and had many family travel adventures often learning a new language specifically for a trip. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LTC (Retired) David W. Lynd. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Lynd, her daughter, Susan Lynd Malone, her son-in-law, Paul Malone and her grand cats and dogs, Sarge, Toby, Snoopy, Max and Bosco. Her family will celebrate her life at a memorial later this year. E. J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
