Dr. Roy Lee Gregory

July 11, 1931 - March 29, 2021

Dr. Roy Lee Gregory, age 89, of Mandeville, LA passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born on July 11, 1931 in Las Cruces, NM to John William Gregory and Ethel Elzory (Rodgers) Gregory. Dr. Gregory is survived by his beloved wife, Lola “Jackie” Janette (Smith) Gregory; his children Laura Janette (Gregory) Jankower, Leah Marie Gregory and his grandchildren Lauren Ashley (Jankower) Dugas, Melanie Michelle Jankower, Danielle Robin Irvine, Nicole Amanda Irvine and Jacqueline Lillian Irvine . He is also survived by his two great grandchildren Gwendolyn Janette Dugas and Gregory Harrison Dugas. Dr. Gregory is preceded in death by his daughter Karen Marie (Gregory) McNease. Dr. Gregory graduated from high school in Lake Providence, Louisiana in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1948. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant by the time he was honorably discharged in 1953. Dr. Gregory attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from 1953-1955. He was accepted into Louisiana School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1955 and became a member of the AOA National Honor Society. Dr. Gregory married his loving wife, “Jackie” Gregory, on June 6, 1956 in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Dr. Gregory received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1959, graduating with honors. From 1959-1960 Dr. Gregory served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service while completing his Family Practice Residency, and continued working with the U.S. Public Service from 1960-1961. He began his Family Practice in Mandeville, Louisiana in June 1961. Dr. Gregory was a Fellow of American Academy of Family Practice, Associate Professor of Medicine for LSU School of Medicine from 1969 until retirement from active practice in 1998. Services were held privately by the family and close friends on March 31, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to The Dr. and Mrs. Roy Gregory Endowed Family Medicine Fund.
