Mary Brewster Hayno

December 20, 1930 - October 30, 2021

Mary Brewster Hayno passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at her home in Madisonville, LA. She was born on December 20, 1930 in Madisonville, LA to the late John E. Brewster and Olga McNeely Brewster. Mary was the beloved wife of the late George Hollister Hayno, Sr. She was the loving mother of Randy Edward Hayno (Mark Chaney) and the late George Hollister Hayno, Jr. (Marlene). Mary was the proud grandmother of George Hollister Hayno, III, Kimberly Hayno Crawford (Scott); great-grandmother of Colt Hayno, Faith Hayno, Grace Hayno, Mason Crawford, and Reed Crawford. She was the sister of Betty Brewster Holmes (the late Virgil), the late Thomas Edward Brewster (Joyce), John Norris Brewster (Mary), and Alfred E. Brewster (Yvonne). Mary attended St. Scholastica Academy and graduated from Covington High School. She began her career at the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Courts Office in 1949. Her first job in the office was recording the discharge papers of local soldiers returning after World War II. When she retired in 1986 as Chief Deputy Clerk of Court, she was “subpoenaed” to court on her last day as Chief Deputy Clerk and “tried” by her loving colleagues from local officials to State Judges for her outstanding career of service to her community. After her retirement, she and her husband bought a boat and built a camp on the Tangipahoa River. They spent many enjoyable hours on their boat, “The Little Rainbow” and her boat, “The Proud Mary” relaxing, fishing, and pulling the grandchildren on water skis. She will be dearly missed by her family. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 11:00 AM until Mass time. Interment will follow the service at Theodore Dendinger Cemetery, Madisonville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, www.marybird.org.
