Ray Wilson her parents William B. Ragland, Sr. and Cora Lee Ragland, sisters: Georgia Townsend, Virginia “Bea” Brown brothers: W.B.”Bill” Ragland, Jr. and Thomas “Bubby” Ragland. She is survived by her sister Margaret “Jeannie” Lorren and brother Marvin “Bud” Ragland and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. Lorraine had a long and successful career with the Bell System Telephone Companies retiring in 1985 with 36 years 7 months of service. She began in Monroe, Louisiana after graduation from BMI Business School in the same city. From there she worked in such cities as Huntsville, Alabama, Seattle, Washington winding up in New Orleans where she was executive secretary to several Vice Presidents of Louisiana. As each of them moved on to other jobs, she was always retained by the one taking his place. She was a dedicated employee and was loved and respected by all of her co-workers. Lorraine was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Mandeville until she gave up driving when she knew it was time. She volunteered for several years at Habitat for Humanity in the Home Store pricing items for resale. Lorraine really enjoyed her volunteering at Habitat and hated when the time came she had to give it up. Another project at Habitat was the Blitz Build, and she was always ready to help. Another favorite of hers was the Telephone Pioneers organization where she did extensive volunteering particularly on Hug-A-Bear projects and serving refreshments to kindergarten and first grade students at different schools. Her nieces and nephews used to look forward to their birthdays because they knew a card with money from “Aunt Rainey” was coming. She moved into Christwood 2011-first Independent Living, then assisted Living and finally the Memory Care Section. All the nurses and staff were great to her, and she was very happy and safe there. Lorraine loved the activities provided, particularly those that included music as she was known to enjoy singing. Lorraine made a difference in every life she touched and will always be remembered and loved by all who knew her.
