Karen Elizabeth Smith Fangue

Karen Elizabeth Smith Fangue, age 71 of Covington, entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2022, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Orlando, Florida on November 29, 1950 to Thomas Aaron Smith and Elizabeth Workman Smith. She is survived by her adoring daughter Lydia Fangue of New Orleans, her loving partner Scott Egermayer of 15 years, his sons, Jackson and Owen Egermayer, her ex-husband Roland Fangue Jr., and his wife Andree Fangue. She is also survived by a host of friends. Karen is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Smith. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a longtime resident of Covington for over 35 years, Karen graduated from Stranahan High School in 1968. She worked as an office manager at a financial firm for thirty years. Karen was a kind, caring, and willful soul. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden with her two playful pups, Lucy and Pierre, and relaxing on the couch with a good mystery novel. However, her true passion was spending time with her daughter and her partner. Karen was a unique and well-respected person and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
