Joseph was preceded in his death by his parents, Tanios and Marie, his sisters Nadia and Samia as well as his sons Tony and Danny. Joseph Tanios Kordahi was born in Beirut, Lebanon on April 4th, 1936. He became a business man at a very young age, and was a natural at it. He worked hard and eventually opened and ran multiple successful retail stores in Beirut. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Hana Kordahi, and they had four boys together. Unfortunately, the civil war in Lebanon, which began in 1975, resulted in great losses, leading to the decision to move the family to the United States in 1983. Leaving his home country was a difficult decision, but he did it for the benefit of his family, thinking of safety and opportunity for a better life for his three boys. Joseph decided to move his family to Covington, Louisiana, where some extended family had already settled. In Covington he had to start all over. He remained self-employed, starting a wholesale business of selling costume jewelry to retailers. He attended Trade Shows and traveled internationally buying and selling merchandise and making a comfortable living. In 1996, with the kids having left the nest, he moved to Kenner, LA to be closer to New Orleans, where he conducted most of his business. Thinking about the family’s future, he then got into Real Estate, purchasing and managing multiple residential rental properties to provide income during retirement. At home, Joseph preferred living simply and just enjoying family and the little things. He lived within his means and impressed on his kids to do the same. Socialization mostly consisted of visiting extended family and joining them to various local events and restaurants. His Kenner home is close to a nice park. He took walks there regularly, watching and feeding the multitude of ducks, geese, seagulls and other birds that resided in the large pond. Two geese in particular took a liking to him, and would run up to him honking excitedly when they would see him. Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time.
