John Edward "Ed" Chaignaud

January 11, 1926 - January 17, 2022

John Edward “Ed” Chaignaud passed away peacefully at his home on January 17, 2022. He was born on January 11, 1926, in Lacombe, LA, the only child of Jean Raoul and Annie Todd Chaignaud. Ed is survived by his daughters, Renee Chaignaud Burford (Joe) and Anne Chaignaud Cowger (David); grandchildren, Jeff Burford (Jacquelyn), Brian Burford, John Burford (Casey), Katherine Cowger, Sean Cowger and Chris Cowger; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Burford, Natalie Burford, William Burford and Lilly Grant. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 73 years, Elaine McKee Chaignaud; and daughter, Dr. Beverly Ellen Chaignaud. Ed spent his childhood in New Orleans and Folsom, LA where he met his wife, Elaine. They were married on Valentine’s Day, 1948 and spent many happy years raising their three girls on Bayou St. John. The early days of his career were spent in sales. Ed was the owner of Gulf States Equipment Company for many years until he realized his dream of developing land and building homes as the owner of Chaignaud Developers Inc. He was the developer of Brier Lake Estates in Lacombe, LA and Annendell Estates in Folsom, LA. Ed worked diligently at being a good steward of all that was given to him, particularly of the land. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Ed was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in New Orleans and most recently, St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lacombe, LA. A private Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family invites you to share thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
