Joan Ellen Schenck

Joan Ellen Delanoy Schenck passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born on November 17, 1935 in Ossining, NY to Charles James Delanoy and Joan Kohler Tayler. This dedicated Sports Mom is survived by her sons: Arthur William Schenck (Elizabeth), Guy Charles Schenck, Raymond John Schenck (Karen), and Philip James Schenck (Barbara). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Guy C. Schenck II (Brittany), George E. Schenck (Kristin), Katie S. Nguyen (Paul), Justine E. Schenck, Kyle M. Schenck, Carolyn M. Lipscomb (Collins), Alexis V. Schenck and Amanda E. Schenck. She was also blessed with nine great grandchildren: Charlie, Kohler, Adalyn, Hudson, Phoebe, Sailor, Maxson, Ella and Sebastian. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Tayler; husband, Master Gunnery Sergeant Arthur William Schenck; son, Kenneth Schenck; and grandson, Kenneth Delanoy Schenck. Joan Ellen never met a stranger who didn’t become a fast friend. She enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing, playing the piano and watching musicals. Her door was always open as she welcomed her beloved family and friends, especially on Thursday nights when she hosted family dinners. She was well known for baking “delicious” Christmas cookies and her plentiful stories. Joan Ellen was a devout Parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and had previously held the esteemed President Position of the Ladies Auxiliary for VFW 2906 in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She spent her golden years surrounded by family, taking day trips to the casino with her sons, tending to her flowers, and entertaining her grandchildren for hours on end with pictures and stories of their rich family history. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, May 20, 2021 at 3:00 with visitation beginning at 1:00 until service times.
