My name is Torie. I worked at WEZB-97 in New Orleans when I was 12 years old. My dream was to be a disc jockey so I took the bus from the Westbank everyday to spend as much time at the radio station as I could. Skinny Tommy and Uglee Jerry were an amazing help to me. I wish I could share a particular story about Jerry that I will always cherish. I will leave two pictures that I still have. One is Jerry in the B-97 VW at a parade and the other is a party that I attended for all the jocks in the Hyatt. I don’t remember everyone’s names but in the picture is Cajun Ken, Boomer, David Blake, and Jack da Wack
So enjoyed hearing Jerry on the radio in Canton, Ms. He was asked many years ago--he had long hair & full beard at the time--to participate in our church Easter program. He would portray Jesus & at the end of the program would come up out of the baptistry as Jesus rising from the dead.....I still get chills thinking about that as he raised himself up in full view of the audience.....it was awesome.....he really looked like Jesus.....needless to say it made for a wonderful ending to our Easter program.. We felt we had actually seen our Lord. Jerry was the mouth of Canton on the radio. He touched many lives in Madison County. May he now rest in peace. To his family we extend our deepest condolences.
