Cynthia Treitler O'Rourke

Cynthia Treitler O’Rourke passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born on March 14, 1938 in New Orleans, LA to the late John Treitler and Ruth Picou Treitler. Cynthia was the beloved wife of the late William R. O’Rourke for 47 years. She was the loving mother of Glenn O’Rourke, Jeannine O’Rourke Kahn, and Bryan O’Rourke. Cynthia was very proud of her six grandchildren whom she helped to raise and doted on up and until her passing. She was the sister of Marilyn Baker and the late Darlene Schoenbrun. Cynthia was the daughter of the co-owners of the famous Picou’s Bakery, a renowned New Orleans institution. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels and married her husband William, a graduate of De la Salle High School, who was a United States Air Force Academy graduate and became a decorated fighter pilot and officer. She moved extensively around the country raising their three children. Her work career included the real estate and retail industries while supporting her husband’s military career. Cynthia was a giver and entertainer. She was known for her dinner parties and for being very generous to her family, friends, and the people she loved. She will be sorely missed by them all.
