Cecilia Ruth Hopper Best

Cecilia Ruth Hopper Best passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the age of 76. She was born on January 14, 1946 in Evansville, IN to the late Cecil C. Hopper, Sr. and Betty Louise Price Hopper. Celia dedicated her life to the love of God and her savior, Jesus Christ. She was the beloved wife of James (Jim) Purvis Best and the loving mother of Deborah Best O’Connor (James) and James P. Best, Jr. (Anna E). Celia was the proud grandmother of Kayla O’Connor Guillotte (Christopher) and Daniel James O’Connor. She was a loving sister of Marian Hopper Trapp (Raymond) and Cecil C. Hopper, Jr. (Nancy). She also greatly loved her nieces and nephews and their children. Celia was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was totally devoted to and loved by her husband of 57 years and her children, Debbie and Jimmy, and her grandchildren. She committed her life to the care and nurturing of her family. Celia was truly an angel trapped in a body that was failing her in recent years. Her greatest joy was manifested in the desire to give to others while expecting nothing in return. Her greatest accomplishment was the guidance and development of her two children. She also loved, protected and enjoyed numerous pets during her lifetime. Until physical decline limited her activities, she delighted in health club activities and enjoyed church services at Church of the King and participation in Bible studies with Church members. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on March 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12:00 Noon until service time.
