June 1, 1942 - February 10, 2021
Allen Joseph “Sonny” Bouey, Jr., age 78, of Madisonville passed away Wednesday morning, February 10, 2021. He was born on June 1, 1942 in Madisonville, Louisiana to Allen J. Bouey, Sr. and Thelma Marie Dunn Bouey. He is survived by his children Marguerite King (Jeff), Denise Bouey Windom, Allene Bouey LeBlanc, Nancy Bouey Shepard (Jonathan), John Bouey (Carolina), Wendy Bouey Williams, and Lance Bouey (Jennifer), his 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers Jim and Richard Bouey and his sister Judy Bouey Sheppers. He is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Thelma Bouey, and his brother Kenneth Bouey. A native and lifelong resident of Madisonville, Sonny served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and was discharged honorably in 1970. After returning from the Army, he worked at Equitable Shipyard, before starting his own business as an electrician for commercial and residential properties. Sonny was also President of the Madisonville Volunteer Fire Department. Everyone who attended the fire department bingos will always remember Sonny as their bingo caller. He had a passion for the Fire Department and looked forwarded to his Thursday night bingos. In 1985 Sonny had a massive stroke that forced him into an early retirement, but it didn’t stop him from his bingo calling. Sonny was a kind person who enjoyed riding his bike through Madisonville visiting with the “Homegrowns”, eating boiled crawfish at Coffee’s Boilin Pot and sipping on cokes at Mortons. He had a knack for making people laugh and smile by his one-line sayings and wearing his graphic T-Shirts. Although Sonny will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends, his daughter Allene, who was his namesake and his care giver, and his youngest brother Jim, who was also his best friend, will miss him the most. The family appreciates the phenomenal care that Forest Manor Nursing Home and St. Catherine’s Hospice provided their daddy. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Catherine’s Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM.
