Dr. Gregory and I had an unique relationship, thanks in part because of me working across the parking lot at Thrift Drugs. I remember stopping and saying "Hi" to the nurses, TJ (the lab rat, and Doctors Gregory and Keller), filing x-ray films, sometimes pulling a patient's file, visiting patients (reminds me of my current Hospital Chaplain work). Dr. Greg set my shattered radius, stitched under my eye, and most famously took my advice for treating my skin issues. You see, I had gone to a million different doctors, and no one could get a decent handle on what could be done. But when I went to him, he asked me to write out everything I had already done so he would not waste either of us' time. I filled out 3 pages - front and back with the treatments including meds and prescriptions very thoroughly. He laughed at the very clear explanation of everything and told me I should consider being a doctor. I told him I had bigger plans. Dr. Gregory was not just my doctor - though he was the best I have known (even today with the couple hundred I deal with every week at my four hospitals); He was not just someone who you could trust and knew he cared; Dr. Gregory was a friend, and did not expect respect, but got it anyway because he was "one of the good ones". We all have people like that in our lives, and unfortunately more times than most, these kinds of people are in our past. But Dr. Gregory is part of my chosen and favored past.
God bless him, and may God's peace, provision, and presence be evident, obvious, and abundant for Dr. Gregory's family and loved ones. Shalom & Agape
Thank you.
