Jamie became one of my dear friends while working at St. Anthony's Gardens. I shared many precious moments with her, and we had conversations that I will hold close to my heart forever. She gave me the best advice. She was honest, witty, kind, and gentle. She was such a unique individual, and I am blessed to have made her acquaintance. I didn't know her for long, but I feel as if I have always known Jamie. She loved butterflies, polka dots, and of course, always talked about her dogs. She was like another mother to me. I will always remember her and hold her memory close to my heart.
Jamie. Sweet, soft spoken Jamie, yet fesity and steadfast in her role as one of the few female attorneys at McDermott in New Orleans. Matter of fact, the only female attorney for many years. I had the honor as serving as her assistant, but she was so much more than my boss. She was a mentor and most importantly a friend, both in and outside of work. She afforded me many opportunities and gave me absolute trust in the many responsibilities of my job. I remember the day she told me, "Be at Lakefront airport tomorrow morning, we're going to the Nassau office". I thought - who, me? It was almost unheard back then to have your assistant travel on business trips, but she'd say "You've been working on this for months, we need you there". It was my first time ever on a private corporate jet. There was several more trips that I accompanied her, John Marion and Frank Allen and when business was concluded we all shared those infamous, funny and intriguing stories about McDermott.
We also shared many similarities as well as laughs of our early years of growing up, Jamie a small town gal from Buras and me, a naive native of St. Bernard. We also commensurated with one another as we had both tragiclly lost our infant daughters many years before.
Jamie's face lit up when she talked about Lee and Lourdes. She truly loved her girls.
I remember when Bob and Jamie started dating. It was a perfect match. I was fortunate to have lunch with both of them just a few years ago. Jamie's love for Bob was obvious, as was his devotion and care for her.
I treasure those stores and laughs we shared. What a privilege to have Jamie in my life.
