I didn't know him, but when he sat on his porch and I was walking the dogs he would give a friendly wave when I went by. I'd always wave back. He sometimes sat out there on his own, or with a friend talking together.

Mom (Joan Markle Moore) wants everyone to know that she has many fond memories of spending time with Norcom and his family growing up. She is sorry she could not make the celebration of Norcom's life, but she is sending lots of love to everyone. She will be 90 in September and would also love to know how Abby is doing.

Norcom and Mary Alice were lifelong friends of my family growing up.Norcom wa also my sister's godfather. I knew him as an interesting, generous, gregarious fellow who had many interest and loved life. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and always spoke of them endearingly. He had a heart for animals from the wildlife on Old Military Road to his beloved poodles. When we moved to Covington , he generously welcomed us to town with a party and later an oyster loaf at Nathan's pool hall. Norcom embodied the qualities of a Modern day Renaissance man.Covington will not be the same without him and he will be missed.

As a classmate and good friend of Elizabeth, i spent a lot of time at the Jackson home in the seventies. What a glamorous couple they were, Norcom and Mary Alice. Their home was always full of life and laughter, creative enterprises, and wonderful food. They simply dazzled me. There was simply nothing norcom couldn't do! My condolences to buzzy, Liz and peggy, he was a wonderful soul!

"Now here's a story" "Let me tell you about humor her"Norcom was my mother's first cousin (Isabel Markle Guinee) and my first cousin once removed. He was a great story teller and I attribute most of my oral history of the family from him. Our family spent a lot of time with him at Mardi Gras parties,to spending the night or for short visits that of course included food and meals he cooked. He was greatly loved and we miss him. Hey, cousins, sorry to hear of your dear dad's ( my 1st cousin's) death. The Orme(maternal side)-Markle-Jackson-Werlein families were close while I was growing up. Frequent contact and shared weekends and vacations were the order of the day back then--and Norcom was certainly a big part of them.
He undoubtedly got his love for photography from my Uncle Norcom, who was damn good at it.
At 92, I don't know when God will call, anyhow I'm sorry I won't be able to make a toast to your dad with all the rest of you. Please tell your Aunt Abby that I send love and would love knowing how she's doing. "Buddy" W.
