James M. Farr, Aia
I took a class in Louisiana Landscape from Chris while I was studying architecture at Tulane in the early 70's. Chris insisted on holding his class at his house off of Esplanade Avenue on Bayou Road(?). He was fascinating and really knew his material. Subsequently I came to know one of his landscape friends R.J. Dykes and knew both of them during the Community Improvement Association days. Chris was a force to reckon with and contributed greatly to the current look of landscape in New Orleans. You could spot a house with R.J./Chris's hands in the landscaping because of the gracious and somewhat loose feel of it all. Chris brought sophistication in the English manner to New Orleans and he had a great knowledge of what he was doing.
I also remember many a Mardi Gras with Chris and Tony and R.J. and Gary parading in costumes throughout the Quarter. We always had such a good time.
To Tony, we offer our condolences and heartfelt prayers. Theirs was a one of a kind relationship. We are blessed that they found each other.
