Dear Cucchiara Family, My husband Matt and I were out of the country when we learned of Bruce's tragic death. We cannot begin to express our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Matt and I had become very good friends with Bruce when he was married to Mary Ann. Mary Ann and I taught school together at 6th Ward. She and I became good friends, and when she had Christopher she and I started a playgroup for our children. Matt and I have fond memories of sharing family dinners and conversation with Bruce and his family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Also my heartfelt sympathy to Mary Ann and their children.

I SAW THE REPORT ON CH 4 AND WHEN IT SHOWED THE PIC. OF MIKE, LES AND BRUCE TOGETHER-IT HIT HOME. I REMEMBER BRUCE FROM 72 JUST LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY. I WISH I HAD KNOWN HIM. Dear Anne Cucchiara & Family, I wanted to extend my sympathies to you and your family. I did not know Bruce but heard many good things about him from my friend Pastor Michael. I was in town leading a volunteer team working with TouchGlobal Crisis Response located at Trinity Church last week helping Katrina survivors. I and my team continues to pray for you and your family.

Truly sad and tragic. My heart goes out to Bruce's family. I knew him in high school, and he always had a smile on his face, enjoyed telling a joke, and treated others with respect. May he rest in peace.
I'm not sure if Bruce would remember me from 1980. He coached the Vikings basketball team in the Covington Recreation league with Les Heidleberg and Mike Cooper. I was disappointed to be drafted by the Vikings that year; my misfortune turned out to be the greatest team experience I ever had growing up in Covington. Bruce, Les and Mike taught us how to play basketball, how to play with passion, good sportsmanship and humility. Maybe it is the sign of good man is that he is remembered by those he may have forgotten--a man who does things because they are the right things to do regardless who is on the receiving end of that help. Bruce gave me something I have used throughout my life--the difference between teaching and coaching. Either of these alone will fail. I probably forgot to say it at age 13--thank you Bruce.
